Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?

For all items that are ready made, we will ship within 1-3 business days. For custom or paint-to-order items, please allow up to 2 weeks for your item to be painted, sealed and dried prior to shipping. All items are shipped from Brisbane/Meanjin, Australia, and actual shipping times are dependent on your location and our courier service.

what materials do you use?

We use acrylic paint and acrylic paint pens on terracotta pots. We don’t favour any particular paint brands, however, like most artists we have discovered our favourite shades through trial and testing. Ann mixes a lot of her own shades so that she can get the exact colour she wants and encourages you to experiment in the same way when making your own art. If you’re interested in painting your own pots you can find Ann’s tutorial here.

do you take wholesale orders?

No, we paint each pot by hand so cannot offer any discounts for bulk purchases.

do you ship internationally?

We ship internationally to the countries listed below:

  • New Zealand: 3-5 business days.

  • USA/Canada: 5-10 business days.

  • UK/Europe: 5-10 business days.

  • China: 5-10 business days.

International shipping for pots and artworks is a flat rate of $190AUD due to the heavy weight of terracotta and the fragility of the artworks. We engage a quality courier service to ensure that your item arrives quickly and in perfect condition.

Please note that if you are an international customer from a country subject to VAT, you will be liable to pay VAT prior to your item(s) clearing customs in your country. Please check the applicable rates in your country according to local laws, as we cannot refund your item if you are unable to pay the VAT.

do you paint custom pots?

We do not take custom commissions but we can paint any of our existing pot designs with custom colours of your choice for an additional fee of $30 per pot. Contact us to order your favourite pot in your favourite colours.

can i collect my pot if i live in brisbane?

You sure can! Select local pickup during checkout and we’ll be in touch to arrange a suitable collection time. Unfortunately, we no longer offer a discount for local pickup, but you will likely receive your new pot faster than delivery.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY POT AT HOME?

We recommend keeping your hand painted pot indoors, or outside in the shade. Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface, and avoid submerging in water. If possible, keep plants in their plastic growers’ pots so that the base isn’t sitting in water for extensive periods. Due to its handmade nature, please handle your pot gently to avoid scratches, dents, and chips.

what is a grimmer anyway?

The word Grimmer came about when our blended family combined our surnames: Gibb and Rimmer (even though Ann has reverted to her birth surname of Nguyen now). Our pug Archie and our two cats Enoki and Boba have taken the Grimmer surname though.
